What’s On Delfina Delettrez’s Plate for Spring 2014
Delfina Delettrez delights in altering our perceptions, placing gems in phantom settings and designing pearl earrings that seem to drift away from the earlobe. For her spring 2014 collection, she took these tricks of the eye one step further, presenting her new wares on spinning ceramic plates hovering over a table. “They’re floating!” visitors gasped, but Delettrez is a jewelry designer, not a magician, so she proudly revealed her secret: suspension by magnets. The pieces were certainly magical, particularly a series of bracelet-watches with circles of matte quartz fastened in the center instead of a real watch face.
