From September 24th – October 2nd, during the Woonbeurs in RAI in Amsterdam, Crealev showed the world Light – Light’s beautiful floating lamps. Light – Light is a spin-off of Crealev and is its first foray in the consumer market, selling lamps directly to end users through Light – Light’s online store. Light – light’s area at the Woonbeurs looked beautiful and attracted masses of people who were amazed by Sillhouette and Eclipse. Some had a hard time believing the lampshades really were levitating in mid air. We had a great time seeing all the astounded people and had even more fun telling them the story behind the floating lamps!

The market introduction of the lamps generated quite some buzz in the blogosphere as renown design-centric blogs such as Mocoloco and Core77 wrote nice articles about the floating lamps. Goodsie, the company hosting our online store, even made Light – Light their store of the day!

Head over to Light – Light to learn more about Crealev’s beautiful floating lamps.

IDLWW | Crack was asked to come up with a way to promote the Jordan Fly Wade (Nike’s most light weight basketball shoe yet). To underline the light weight properties of the Jordan Fly Wade shoes IDLWW | Crack dreamed of making the shoes actually fly. Who else to turn this dream into a reality than masters of levitation, Crealev?! Having had a prototype pair of shoes floating in the office for over a year Crealev took on the challenge to build the shoes under a strict deadline. With a turnaround time of less than a month Crealev delivered 22 nearly invisibly modified shoes matched by custom built levitation modules. The shoes levitate at a height of 30mm. IDLWW | Crack incorporated the floating shoes in in-store displays at the House of Hoops by Footlocker in Miami, Florida and the newly opened Niketown flagship store in Las Vegas, Nevada. People were astounded upon seeing the Jordan Air Wades float in mid-air, just like who they got their name from: basketball player Dwyane Wade.

Crealev has developed multiple systems that are able to levitate objects. The modules consist of a base above which a magnet disc floats. This disc serves as floatation plateau that can be integrated in objects. Doing so its possible to make floating products that are a true eye catcher.

world's first floating 3D clock

CLM-0.5 is a levitation module half the size of CLM-1. After many months of development and testing, CLM-0.5 is now ready to be implemented in projects that require a small, but stable levitation system. Click here to go the CLM-0.5 product page.

Hoverboard by Nils Guadagnin

May, 2010 // made possible with Crealev magnetic levitation technology

The Hoverboard is a project made by Nils guadagnin, a young french artist. This work is born in 2008 for an exhibition named “Back To the future”. It is a copy of the hoverboard from the movie Back to the Future II. Integrated into the board and the plinth is an electromagnetic system which levitates the board. A laser system stabilises the object in the air. In the making of this work, this artist was thinking about different ways of presenting sculpture. In fact it’s a reflexion on the multiple possibilities of how to give a sculpture full spatial autonomy.

The Hoverboard features two CLM-1+ levitation modules which are neatly integrated into to the Hoverboard.

Auto Rotating Life-Size Window Dummy

May, 2010 // New application featuring CLM-2

Crealev created this custom full-size window dummy to be used in the showroom of a well known mens-shirts brand. The mens-shirt on the window dummy is made from an innovative light-weight fabric. The client wanted to show of the shirt’s light weight characteristics by letting the shirt float in mid-air at a height of 6 centimeter. One of the features that was implemented in this project is controlled rotation; the window dummy slowly rotates so that the shirt can be seen from all sides!

This was the first project where a CLM-2 module was used. CLM-2 is (currently) Crealev’s largest levitation module. It is both stable and power efficient. CLM-2 can carry a load up to 10 kilogram and can achieve a levitation height with a maximum of 9 centimeter. Are you interested in your own floating window dummy? Or do you have an idea for a (custom) application using CLM-2? Please contact us!
